Discover Guildford was founded in 2009 as a facebook venture when Pete Lambert started discovering the footpaths in and around the Guildford Area to get fit for a charity trek of the Great Wall of China. First of all posting up photos of the places he would trek and then enticing people to come out to join him on his many adventures.
The group not only offers hikes to get fit physically, but also has an ethos that the outdoors is stimulating for the mind, allowing you to engage with our stunning natural surroundings, and to meet new people to share those experiences with.
Our aim is to give these opportunities to both new and veteran walkers, as well as providing an education about the countryside. We tell the story of the land, give you lessons on responsible tourism in the hills and lowland, but most of all we give you a fantastic experience.
We not only give your your first steps to a fantastic world right on your doorstep, but can also provide a training ground for your individual goals, whether it be taking the next step in Hill Walking, getting fit for those Summer Ultra Marathons, preparing your body for a Mountain Challenge or just feeling generally fitter and stronger. As well as this, we offer guidance and expertise on equipment and clothing.
Discover Guildford offers a host of walking opportunities for many abilities ranging from a couple of miles to marathon distance or even above. All our treks are situated within a 20 mile radius of the Guildford area and offer a great insight into the Surrey Hills.
We also offer further afield excursions with trips to Snowdonia and the Lake District as well as signposting to partner organisations for those wanting to push themselves to their limits.
Our treks and walks are designed to be fun and friendly. The walks are a great way of socialising with people from all walks of life that share a common interest. The outdoors!
